Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

overview

Safari Highlights

This lodge truly lives up to its name in terms of exclusivity, furnishings and fittings, its spa, rooms, service and food. Perched on the Nteko Ridge, which is part of the Kigezi Highlands in south western Uganda, the lodge is in the southern part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Clouds Mountain Gorilla LodgeWarm, Plush Surroundings

Each of the beautifully appointed stone cottages has its own verandah and a fireplace for the frequently chilly nights you will encounter here, and the main lounge offers plush furnishing and individually commissioned works of art by Ugandan artists. The dining room and lounge offer an attractive setting in which to unwind and discuss the day's activities with fellow travellers.

Attractions & ActivitiesView from the breakfast table, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

From Clouds, clients can track the Nkuringo, Nshongi or Mishaya gorilla families, and for days when a more relaxed pace is preferred, walks to the local villages are available. Bwindi is part of the Albertine Rift, one of the most biologically diverse parts of Africa, and this is reflected in the birding available here, with 23 bird species endemic to the area in which the lodge is located.
