Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

Samburu

overview

Safari Highlights

Kalama is a migratory corridor between northern and southern conservation areas. We will be looking for the Samburu Five, five rare and endemic animals to the Samburu ecosystem. They are the Gerenuk, the Reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, the Grevy's zebra, and the the Somali ostrich. Kalama Conservancy has an abundance of other rare species, such as the leopard, the Striped hyena, the Civet cat and African Wild dog or Painted hunting dogs. 30 community rangers patrol Kalama to ensure the protection of these important and beautiful creatures.

Shared sundowners are called for in the evening, perhaps after a night time drive with a guide.
