Grey Pratincole spotted in UgandaDecember 1, 2011
A rare bird has been spotted in Uganda for the first time ever, creating a new birding record for the country. The Grey Pratincole was recorded by Johnnie Kamugisha, who spotted it whilst on the boat cruise on Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The bird is a West African species and has only been spotted in East Africa once before, twenty years ago in Rusizi National Park in Burundi.
Uganda has over 1,000 different bird species and offers a huge variety for birders, thanks to the many different habitats and terrain throughout the country. We are recommended by Birding Uganda for specialist bird watching itineraries in Uganda and will soon be introducing set departure birding tours to satisfy demand in this growing market.
