Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

Giraffe Manor

overview

Safari Highlights

Giraffe Manor is unquestionably one of Nairobi’s highlights. Built in the 1930s, this is a stately colonial manor with a long-legged twist.

Giraffes Roam The Grounds

Set on 140 acres of indigenous forest, the grounds provide sanctuary to eight resident Rothschild’s giraffe - part of the owners’ breeding programme for this critically endangered species. The six double bedrooms reflect the art deco period of the manor’s heritage, with large, comfortable four poster beds, stylish antique furniture, striking art decor and spacious, well appointed bathrooms.

It is likely that you’ll have an inquisitive head peering through your second storey bedroom window and almost certain that there’ll be a few uninvited guests at the breakfast table... The Karen Blixen suite, which is decked out with furniture that the famous author gave to the owners when she left Africa for the last time, is ideal for families and has direct access to the courtyard which opens onto the giraffe sanctuary.
