Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

Rekero Camp

overview

Safari Highlights

This luxury tented camp overlooks a picturesque bend in the Talek river and the plains beyond, and is an excellent base for your classic Maasai Mara safari.

The camp is situated in a peaceful area of the Mara and caters for up to 20 guests in just 9 tents that nestle among the shady trees along the river's edge. Each tent also has a large verandah with a day bed for relaxing after game drives, and is attended by a personal butler. The camp has two common areas under canvas for guest dining and relaxation, one is surrounded by shady trees and lush lawn while the other extends on a platform over the river bank for some excellent views.

Rekero has built itself a well-deserved reputation for having excellent Maasai guides that help each guest get the most out of their stay. The Good Safari Guide recently named them the 'Best Guiding Team in Africa’ and their encyclopaedic knowledge of the local flora, fauna and culture is superb. The guides and camp crew at Rekero have worked closely together for many years and provide guests with a truly authentic Maasai Mara experience.
