Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

Wildwaters Lodge

overview

Safari Highlights

Rumoured to have had creative input during its construction from British actress Joanna Lumley, Wildwaters Lodge is one of the more luxurious places to stay along the River Nile in Jinja. Boasting some of the largest hotel rooms in Uganda, the lodge also spoils its guests with full spa facilities, a yoga deck, a coffee house and a fresh juice bar.

Stunning Surroundings

Located on a granite outcrop between two rapids of the Nile, the lodge also has a natural rock pool that has been worn through the ages by the force of the water. Each room is located in riverine forest and affords complete privacy, with stunning views of the river below. Elevated wooden walkways criss-cross the entire island, leading to secluded areas along the banks and linking up the rooms with the main lodge.

Activities & Attractions

The lodge is at the heart of the Wildwaters Reserve, a group of mid-stream islands on the Nile. The area is a sanctuary for otters, Nile monitor lizards and a dazzling array of bird species. It's also an ideal base from which to enjoy the wilder and woollier activities that this part of Uganda is famous for - white water rafting, bungee, horseback safaris and all terrain vehicle safaris.
