Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

Tijara Beach Resort

overview

Safari Highlights

Tijara Beach Resort is an exclusive retreat set in five acres of colourful gardens overlooking the Indian Ocean and with its own private beach.

Tijara Beach Hotel

Renew Your Spirit

This is a Swahili haven of peace that hosts a maximum of eight people. Tijara succeeds in its aim of being an escape from civilisation; the four cottages are spaced a good distance apart from each other with large private decks and uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean. From Tijara you will only hear the roaring of the ocean as the breakers roll on to the reef, and the ever present bird song from any number of the hundreds of species that frequent the grounds. There is plenty of wildlife on the grounds such as dikdik, bush-buck, wild-pigs, genet cats, bush babies and an abundance of exotic species of butterflies.

For no extra cost Tijara guests can enjoy the highly recommended snorkelling experience, visit the local caves, beach and reef walks, play french boules and croquet on the lawns, as well as take part in bird watching activities. For an additional cost guests can indulge in nearby attractions such as golf, visiting the Elephant Sanctuary and Shimba Hills Game Reserve, a trip into Mombasa, deep sea fishing and kite or wind surfing amongst others. For those who just want to relax you can have spa treatments such as massages, manicures and pedicures in the comfort of your cottage.
