Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

Duba Plains

overview

Safari Highlights

Duba Plains is an intimate camp in one of the most remote northern locations of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Originally a research camp, Duba Plains sits on an island in the 30,000 hectare Kwedi concession area, north of the Moremi.

Duba Plains Botswana

Remote Beauty

Duba Plains is so remote that it can only be accessed by plane for much of the year. The camp is surrounded by expansive seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, fig and mangosteen trees. For up to 12 guests only, the accommodation itself consists of six beautifully appointed tented rooms, each with an en suite bathroom, outdoor shower and private veranda overlooking the floodplains. The main lodge area is on raised decking under a thatched canopy and there is also a plunge pool offering a stunning view from the deck.

Around and About Duba Plains Botswana Delta

The lions that live in the area have become living legends; they often hunt in broad daylight, making for gripping viewing. Birdlife is abundant, as are the game which traverse this magnificent wilderness. You will surely leave Duba Plains having witnessed lion, elephant, impala, red lechwe and more. The camp offers game drives and boating excursions in the delta when seasonal water levels permit.
