Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area as a whole has much to offer but the jewel in its crown is, without a doubt, the eponymous crater - an area of 265 sq km, which is 610m deep and 19km across. The rim of the crater is an astounding 2286m above sea level. Game drives from the lodge may start as early as 6.15am and there is no time wasting at the gate as you can drive straight down to the floor within 20 to 30 minutes. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been called one of Africa’s seven natural wonders.
