Reviews about Journeys Discovering Africa

San Camp

overview

Safari Highlights

San Camp is a collection of 6 tents in the middle of one of the hugest expanses of empty Africa you will find anywhere.

San CampOasis in the Desert

San is in a magic corner of the continent, and it takes its responsibility to live up to its location seriously. The glorious colonial-style furnishings are just some of the touches that enchant the first-time or returning visitor. It's minimalist at heart though, encouraging you to shed all the trappings of western civilization and truly relax. Combine this with a manager and team who are quite clearly answering a calling, and you have the makings of a truly great camp.

While at first sight the desert appears barren and devoid of life, it quickly reveals itself as being just as as complex and diverse an environment as the savannahs to the west. Although wildlife is regularly seen here, the experience incorporates more of the extraordinary location and the sense of liberation one gains from it. It's addictive, truly Africa for the soul, and you will want to keep coming back year after year.
